Divi angļu aktieri Evans Makgregors (Ewan McGregor ) un Čārlijs Bormans (Charley Boorman) jau “piesituši roku”, veidojot filmas Long Way Round un Race to Dakar, tāpēc dokumentālo seriālu veidotāji ķērušies pie nākošā projekta – Long way down. Šoreiz piedzīvotāju meklētāji dosies tālākā ceļojumā uz Āfrikas kontinentu.
Sižets ne par mata tiesu nav mainījies no iepriekšējiem seriāliem – pirmās sērijas tiek aizvadītas, gatavojoties braucienam. Pirms paša brauciena notiek pāris pavērsienu, kas visu projektu var apturēt, bet galu galā tomēr visi laimīgi dodas ceļā. Pa ceļam tiek apskatīti interesanti objekti un iespēju robežās tiek atbalstīti bērni, jo projekts tapis sadarbībā ar UNICEF.
Ceļojums sākas Īrijas ziemeļos, bet beidzas Dienvidāfrikā, maršruta garums - aptuveni 24000 km. Kā ierasts, ceļā viņi dosies ar BMW močiem, kurus pavadīs iespaidīga grupa ar operatoriem, režisoriem, ārstiem un pat apsardzi, zinot, ka Āfrikas ziemeļu daļā iespējami arī bruņoti uzbrukumi.
Iespējams arī tādēļ, ka viss bija tik sīki izplānots, šis seriāls varētu mazliet zaudēt savu auditoriju, jo nekas vairs nevarēja braucējus pārsteigt, tomēr izlepušajiem tūristiem, kas alkst tikai komforta, šis brauciens varētu būt tīri pamācošs.
Arī šajā braucienā abiem aktieriem līdzi devās operators Klaudio, kurš, kā vienmēr, piešķir projektam savu garšu ar nepieredzējušo braukšanu un neveikliem atgadījumiem. Tieši to pašu varētu teikt par Evana sievu, kura arī vēlējās piebiedroties braucējiem, tomēr vai par laimi viņas iespējas bija stipri ierobežotas, jo vispirms nācās nokārtot eksāmenu, kas tik viegli nenācās, tāpēc pievienoties braucējiem viņa spēja tikai daļēji jau Āfrikas vidienē. Pateicoties viņai, arī kritienu statistika tika trīskāršota, bet pati filma neatstāja ģimenes kino sajūtu.
